The Small Business Owner’s Guide to Batch Content Creation
I’m a firm convert to batch content creation. And if you’re looking to reduce stress, save time and be more consistent with your own marketing then I’d highly recommend it to you.
Here are some of my top tips to help you batch create your content.
1. Get Your Ideas Lined Up 💡
Before you start creating, you need a bank of content ideas. Make a big list: think tips, behind-the-scenes, FAQs, client wins, things you wish more people knew. Remember that your content should focus on your audience’s challenges, not just promote your services.
Here are some great resources to help you brainstorm ideas:
Your ideal client personas
Instagram’s Explore tab
Your analytics (what’s performed well?)
Tools like Answer the Public to find trending questions in your niche
2. Pick the Right Format 📝
Format suggestions:
Short & snappy: Try Reels, TikToks, or a relatable quote graphic
Explainer content or deep dives: A blog post, carousel, or video with voiceover might be better
Big opinions or storytime: Go for a talking-head video or long-form caption
Let the message choose the format - not the other way around.
3. Batch Film Like a Pro 🎬
Find natural light. Face a window, not away from it.
Don’t want to tidy your house? Film outside or in your car.
Clear distracting clutter, but don’t film in a white box let your personality shine through your chosen setting.
Record in a quiet space to reduce background noise.
Don’t script every word. Just know your key message. You can edit out the umms and ahhhs later!
Film multiple videos in one session - change outfits to make it look like different days.
4. ✍️ Write in Batches ✍️
Use AI tools to help you get started - especially with first drafts. Give past content examples so the AI learns your tone.
Draft multiple captions, emails, or posts in one sitting - then come back to edit with fresh eyes.
Use a strong hook in every post. Attention spans are short!
5. Design in Batches 🎨
Create easy-to-edit templates using your brand colours and fonts.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match templates over time so that your content stays fresh whilst maintaining consistency.
Prioritise clarity over aesthetics. Can people read your post quickly? Does it guide the eye?
6. Schedule Smart 📆
Use tools like Later, Metricool, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite to queue your posts.
Scheduling perks:
You’re not scrambling every day wondering what to post.
You can align content with promos, launches, or key dates.
You create breathing space between creating and showing up.
7. Check Your Stats 📊
Reporting doesn’t need to be complicated - but it is helpful. Identify which metrics are useful to you and schedule in time to review them regularly. Then use this information to shape future content.
Why Batching Works
✅ You get into the flow faster when you're focused on one task
✅ You reduce the constant stop-start of daily content creation
✅ You save time by not redoing setup (mental and physical) over and over
✅ You’re more likely to stay consistent - even when life gets busy
I use a batching method to create all my social media content. It’s important to remember that not all parts of batch creation are equal. It all depends where your natural skills lie and what you find the most challenging. For me, filming is painful and requires a lot more physical set up, so I aim to film once per quarter and gather as much content as possible. Whereas writing and designing can be a monthly, or even fortnightly task.
Wishing you luck in your batch creation process and if you want help building a batch routine, just ask. I’ve been there and I can help.
